For almost a decade, the Center for Power Optimization for Electro-Thermal Systems (POETS) has pursued innovations in electric powertrains for transportation systems ranging from cars and trains to ships and small aircraft.
POETS Faculty, Professors' Paul Braun and James Allison have been recognized by the University of Illinois' Grainger College of Engineering for their contributions to the future of clean energy systems.

Kiruba Haran, POETS Director and ECE faculty, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering! His election makes him the FOURTH POETS faculty to be an NAE academy member.
