Materials:

  • Building materials list
  • Order forms/budget
  • Building work plan

Lesson Level Learning Objectives:

  • MS-ETS1-4 Develop a model to generate data for iterative testing and modification of a proposed object, tool, or process such that an optimal design can be achieved.

Phenomenon:

  • Group model drawing, budget, work plan 
  • Students will get into their new groups, share out their individual models, and draw a group consensus model.
  • Gallery walk - Students will share their group models with the class in a gallery format and reflect upon their own designs - making changes as they see fit.
  • Students will create a budget and a work plan for the creation of their prototype.

 

What we Figured Out: 

  • Students learn to design within a budget.
  • Determine the best design to meet the criteria and constraints.
