What needs to be changed about our design?

Materials:

  • Criteria and constraints list
  • Thermometers
  • Heat packs

Lesson Level Learning Objectives:

  • MS-ETS1-3 Analyze data from tests to determine similarities and differences among several design solutions to identify the best characteristics of each that can be combined into a new solution to better meet the criteria for success.

Phenomenon:

  • Students will test their prototypes using the student generated criteria and constraints list.

What we Figured Out: 

  • Students learned how their prototype functioned in regards to the criteria and constraints.
  • Students followed the design process of building a model, testing the model and making modifications.

Questions we still have:

  • Will our new design be effective?
  • Our data shows that the temperature does not say warm enough, how can we improve this?
  • Some incubators worked better than others, how are they different?
